Hello New York!

It feels like I’ve been here before, not New York City (though I have been here previously), but in the same situation time and time again. A new city, new faces, new apartment, and a new search for the best takeout Chinese nearby. One thing that always remains the same, though, is the inevitable lie I tell myself, “this time I’ll focus more on my photography.” Yet here I am, almost three months in to living in New York, surprised I’m actually doing just that. Whether by necessity or desire is still to be seen. But I digress. In my short time here I’ve been lucky enough to connect and work with some of the most talented and passionate photographers and filmmakers in the area, work on film sets for TV shows and documentaries alike, and walk the streets capturing the life of the city that never sleeps. Through all the early mornings, sleepless nights, and overpriced cocktails, I’ve made friends with my local bodega guy, scoffed at wide eyed tourists ogling their way through Times Square, honked a few times the moment the light turns green, bought a film camera and made artsy friends, and even seen the subway rats drinking a milkshake - all in the name of trying to fit in to my new home. So here it is, my first few months in New York shot entirely on film.

If you’ve made it this far, I thank you for reading the ramblings of someone trying to make it work in yet another new city. I’m faced with the same thoughts swirling through my head, now with an outlet for them to go. Above all else, this allows me to share some photos that I wouldn’t otherwise post anywhere. Not good enough for the portfolio, not aesthetic enough for Instagram, just real enough to illustrate my thoughts.
If you feel so inclined, I’d love if you checked out my new prints I’ve made available. I've decided to do things a bit differently this time. Each month or so will have a new set of prints available, and once they're gone they're gone. This month's set is meant to be viewed in pairs, and I wanted to start with some of my favorite images from trips to Greece, France, and Italy over the last year. In the three sets available, each photo complements the other in character and feel, kind of like your best friend does to you. But, of course, each works great on its own as well.
